Introducing pickleball to my Vietnamese friends
Pickleball in Vietnam? Although pickleball is currently the fastest growing sport in the USA, in Hanoi and Hue, Vietnam, no one I have talked with has ever hear of the sport. I saw no pickleball courts, no sports shops with pickleball equipment and never hear the distinct "ping" of the paddle striking the ball. Where do you start if you want to introduce a new sport in an untapped environment? I brought 4 paddles and ball with me to Vietnam to try to interest some one in the sport of pickleball. My first time to play in Vietnam was in the narrow alley in front of my friend's Hanoi home. No net, no lines and few rules and one major interruption. My eager participant was my friend's 10-year-old son. You can watch our efforts in this short video. Well, you have to start somewhere. I'll post a video of pickleball session #2 later.
